The "Artist's Villa"

To point it out at first. Really this is a jewel if you are looking for a house located on the west bank of Luxor. This means the location on the edge of a tributary of the river Nile surrounded by palm trees as well as the designing and the interior. Everything is showing that this is the house of an artist, a house with a specific charme.

Location:
In the village Ramlah around 200 m behind the hotel "Gezira Garden" located on the edge of the river Nile. you have a view to the agriculture land and the other banks. In front of the house there are fields and the own vegetable garden (no. 21 in our map).

Size:
The one storey villa with a surface area of about 220 sqm was built up on an area of around 650 sqm. The showpiece of the house is the onfiltered=room=area of living and eating with a space of about 72 sqm/ One wall are only large windows to allow you the view to the garden and the River Nile. The two bedrooms have a size of 30 and 20 sqm each. A kitchen and a bathroom are completing the flat.

All the roof of the house is a terrace which you can reach by using a n outside staircase equipped with a little pavilion, which you can use as a bar if you like to have a private party.

Looking to the river Nile the villa is surrounded by a terrace decorated with a pergola. In one corner a fountain is babbling.

In a separated building you will find a guest sleeping room furnished with a double bed. Another building is housing the guest bathroom (shower and WC) and a washing room with an automatic washing machine. The whole villa reminds everybody of a country house following English style..

Gardens:
The garden in front of the villa maybe is one of the most beautiful on the West Bank. On the lawn reaching the bank of the river Nile there are growing palm trees, orange/ and lemon trees and everywhere flowers and bushes. It is a wild oasis.Some steps away from the villa there is the vegetable garden. During harvest guests can be happy to find fresh vegetables in the kitchen on request. A gardener takes care for the gardens.

Furnishings:
It is not necessary to tell, that the house ist completely furnished in an artistic and very elegant style. Both bedrooms are equipped with double beds. In the fully equipped kitchen you can prepare your dinner on a gas oven. So its no question that a fridge is there.

The living area is carefully decorated with some pictures of the owner of the house. A television (local programs) and a stereo are useful for some people. Near the telephone (local line) guests will find emergency numbers of doctors and an English speaking taxi driver as well as the number of the manager.

The bathroom is built with a bath tub which is deeply arranged in the ground floor following Moroccan style.

Fans in every room will bring you a feeling like fresh air. But a transportable AC will cool down the temperature in summertime much more. For the winter you will find transportable heaters..

Occupancy:
In the main house up to four people find peaceful days. Two more guests can sleep in the guesthouse. Because all rooms are on the ground level the villa can also be used by handicapped guests.

Service:
Bed clothes and towels are free of charge. Twice a week somebody will clean the house – if you like it also can be done daily (extra charge). The gardener will do every necessary shopping for you. Also on request a cook will show up to prepare for you the typical Egyptian food (extra charge). Furthermore arrangements of a pickup service from the airport or the train station are possible (payment requested).

Name:
The house is named "artists villa" because the American owner, Professor of fine art John Phillips is also well known as a painter. Some of his paintings are exhibited in the living area of the villa. If you are interested to buy one please contact the manager of the house. He will give you fixed prices.

Infrastructure:
In the suburb called Ramlah some small supermarkets are established, also a dry cleaning and coffee shops. It is only a five minutes walk to the the village of El Gezira where you will find more shops, pharmacies, restaurants etc. Nearly the same time you need to stroll to the public ferry.

Prices:
To rent the villa will cost you 350 EURO per week including electricity and public water.

Terms of payments:
All payments are requested by cash money. Cheques and credit cards unfortunately cannot be accepted. If you pay in other currencies than EURO the money will be exchanged by the rate of the day of the banks. A down payment is requested after arrival, the final payment before you leave.

Availibility:
Twice every year (from 15th of November and from 15th of February until the end of the following month) the owner uses his villa by himself.
