Hotel Sheherazade

This exclusive and intimate hotel is the realization of a dream for owner Mohamed Elsanosy.  Inspired by the buildings of the great Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy, Mohamed vowed one day to build the hotel of his dreams, and 6 years later Hotel Sheherazade is the fulfilment of this dream.

Sheherazade is of course the beautiful storyteller from 1001 Nights, and with its exquisite elegant architecture of domes, cupolas, archways and trelliswork, and  set amongst greenery and rippling water, this building could be straight out of the Tales of 1001 Nights.

On the West Bank of Luxor, it offers all the comforts that demanding travellers nowadays expect, but with a more personal touch than the bigger hotels. It is an oasis of calm in a green and shady garden. 

It has 12 double rooms and 5 single rooms, all with ensuite bathroom.  All rooms on the ground floor have their own balconies which open directly onto the garden; rooms on other floors all have beautifully crafted domed ceilings as a central feature.

There are 2 restaurants, one on the ground floor amidst the garden; the second on the roof with its spectacular views.

However the focal feature of this lovely hotel, which sets it apart from all the others, is the great central dome, measuring 15 metres across, covering the atrium which separates the 2 wings of the hotel.  This magnificent atrium with its relaxed cushioned seating and classical columns, gives this communal area a wonderful feeling of space and light.  Each storey after the ground floor has a mezzanine area with more cushioned seating, and offering views over the surrounding countryside.

Another special feature of the hotel, adjacent to the dome on the roof , is the secluded and romantic ‘1001 Nights’ Honeymoon Suite.  With bedroom, bathroom, private lounge and balcony with breathtaking views of Luxor and surrounding countryside for miles around, this is an ideal retreat for those who want to get away from it all in total luxury.  Guests booking this suite will be welcomed with wine, chocolates, and flowers as a preliminary to an unforgettable stay.

The positioning of the hotel is ideal, being situated 5 minutes walk from the West Bank of the Nile;
10 minutes drive away from the Valley of the Kings and other tourist attractions; 10 minutes away from the centre of Luxor if crossing by ferry or numerous motorboats which operate 24 hours a day; and 30 minutes from the airport.  

Extras   
The hotel can arrange transport to and from the airport.  We can also organize and arrange any visits or excursions requested by guests whatever it may be  - guided or unaccompanied visits to tombs and temples (in Luxor or further afield); ride by donkey/camel/horse/bicycle through the beautiful countryside (still for the most part being worked on as it has been for centuries); sail the timeless Nile in a felucca at sunset; take a balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings at sunrise – the list is endless.  We also have our own Sailing boat, a Sandal named Sinbad, which does 3/4 night cruises between Aswan and Edfu, and desert trips are also organized.
